The Cathedral Choir

You need to upgrade your Flash Player and enable Javascript to view this content » We sing nearly every Sunday morning during the regular term (September – June), and rehearse on Wednesday evenings. The Choristers (4th - 12th grades) gather at 5 p.m. in the Choir Room, rehearse until 6, share a meal together and then have a written music class from 6:30 until 7. They are joined at 7 by the adults and rehearse together until 8. The Choristers are dismissed at 8 and the adults continue their rehearsal until 9 p.m. Choristers also rehearse select Sundays at 11:30 a.m. We sing a widely varied repertoire consisting of Plainchant through 21st Century composers. The Choir is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music and employ their vocal/choral curriculum, “Voice for Life.” There are currently six professional section leaders in the choir, and we number about 30 singers. The Choir undertook their first choral residency at Ely Cathedral in August 2009, singing daily Evensong and Choral Eucharist on Sunday. They also sang Evensong at St. Paul's Cathedral, London. They will sing another residency at Lincoln Cathedral in August 2012 with several days of singing at Coventry Cathedral.
