Children at the Cathedral

We welcome children to Christ Church Cathedral! Through a free youth music program and extra activities, children become an integral part of our community. This is an wonderful chance to build life-long skills and friendships while being immersed in an inclusive, caring community.

Hear from one of our youth music members and acolyte Jona in his Channel 3 Easter interview!

Youth choir leader Sarah Marze holds music degrees from the University of Connecticut and the Royal Academy of Music, and has sung in choirs for 19 years.

Our youth music program comprises three parts: our weekly youth choir, optional piano lessons
and opportunities to be involved in the community of the Cathedral.

Youth Music Program

Community

We expect youth music members to be involved in our church community in way that suits them: for example being an acolyte and/or singing at the occasional church service in the choir. We host fun events such as piano parties, summer camp, arts-and-crafts and an Easter egg hunt.

Piano Lessons

Youth choir members benefit from piano lessons from cathedral music director Marianne Vogel. This is an amazing way to learn about written music, dedicated weekly practice, musical interpretation, hand-eye-coordination and fine motor skills.

Youth Choir

Our youth choir welcomes young children interested in singing. From 5:00-6:00pm each Wednesday we learn musical rhythms and notes, Curwen Hand Signs, music games and songs in different languages. We also work on teamwork, attention and cooperation while moving our bodies a lot!
