“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

— Matthew 25:40

Mission

Service and community are at the heart of what we do at Christ Church Cathedral. We are called to live out our baptismal covenants by engaging with the world, the city and the arts. Our three flagship service efforts feed and clothe those in need, bring the good news of Jesus Christ's love to the public square, and spread joyful music across downtown Hartford.

Church Street Eats

We are a cooperative ministry providing meals and clothing to people in need. The number of people who depend on us continue to increase. Likewise, the opportunities to be a part of this caring community continue to grow.

Engaging the World

Church by the Pond

Church by the Pond is literally a church without walls.
Services are held outdoor in Bushnell Park at 2:00 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine, hot or cold, sleet or snow.

Based on Boston's "Common Cathedral" model, we don't wait for people to find us. Instead, we set up our altar in a highly visible public setting. We participate in God’s mission by bringing the good news of Jesus Christ’s love and salvation to the all people.

Engaging the City

Music Moves Hartford

Music Moves Hartford is Christ Church Cathedral's program to get downtown Hartford residents making music and filling streets, buildings, churches, and public spaces with their voices and talents. We hold ongoing music making meetings at a soup kitchen, transitional shelter, and in Bushnell Park, as well as holding pop-up events and performances around downtown. Music Moves Hartford meets every Wednesday at Hands on Hartford Headquarters at 55 Bartholomew Street, Hartford. If you would like to find out more about this program, please email directorofmusic@cccathedral.org.

Engaging the Arts

"Christ Church Cathedral has embarked on a new chapter in its history as an empowerer and nurturer of our apostolic calling to share Christ’s love with the world."

The Rt. Rev Laura J. Ahrens,
Bishop Suffragan

Bishop Ahrens.jpg
“Christ Church Cathedral lives into its calling to be the seat of the Diocese while also fostering a robust community of congregations who call the Cathedral their spiritual home.  It is a blessing to have Christ Church Cathedral as a point of connection for Episcopalians from all over Connecticut, and center of mission and ministry to the neighborhood and greater Hartford community. … Christ Church Cathedral is living into the call to wonder what it means to be church in the 21st century.”

The Rt. Rev Jeffrey W. Mello, Bishop
