Dear Cathedral Congregations,

There is so much sadness and loss as our country registered over 100,000 deaths from Covid-19, with over 3,800 deaths in Connecticut. It is important to name our pain and grief as we join in solidarity for many families who are mourning. God’s children are dying daily from Covid-19. Our Presiding Bishop, The Most Rev, Michael Curry, has encouraged Episcopalians to honor the 100,000 plus Americans who have died from COVID-19 by participating in the National Day of Mourning and Lament planned for Monday, June 1. Please see invitation Bishop Curry’s invitation here. Bishop Douglas and Bishop Ahrens have encouraged all members of The Episcopal Church in Connecticut to observe this day.

I invite all members of our Cathedral Congregations to participate in this National Day of Mourning and Lament on Monday.

As you observe the day, please consider joining me for 30 minutes of meditation and prayer on Monday at noon time.

May God give us strength; may God give grace.  Amen.

The Very Rev. Miguelina Howell, Cathedral Dean
